ActuallyAutisticJessica – who I am, what I do, and why I do it.

My name is Jessica and I was diagnosed with autism at 22 years old. Seeking out a diagnosis was a long, difficult journey that started with a deep dive into everything autism, from DSM-V criteria to historical context to current advocacy. I was inspired to start this website as a way to provide other autistic women with access to my personal experiences. Without the help of other autistic women, I’m not sure I would have ever found my way.

My other hope for this website is that it can provide non-autistics a chance to challenge their often stereotyped view of autism. So much of what the general public knows about autism comes from an outsider-looking-in perspective. Hopefully, I can provide people with insight on what it’s like to actually be autistic.
